There are numerous reports including a recent one by Gartner that define how increasingly AI is used across industries. The report states that AI will be used in almost every new software product by 2020 and will be one of the top five priorities for over 30 percent of CIOs. At present, a large number of businesses look to employ AI, big data, and machine learning to obtain analytics, decision making, and advanced product capabilities. Hong Kong-based Optix Solutions plays a big role in this transition, helping businesses integrate AI, big data, and machine learning into their workflows. The company uses AI to automate and optimize their clients’ operations work, such as scheduling, planning, job assignments, resource allocation, predictive maintenance, chiller plant management, and energy management, and so on.

The company offers affordable AI solutions to big corporations and works towards popularizing the AI technology among SMEs. Optix Solutions works closely with the clients to understand their requirements and accordingly designs the solution, considering its practicality, scalability, and usability. It also helps clients get a better understanding of AI considering the fact that many organizations still remain unaware of the capabilities associated with it. Optix extensively delivers these capabilities to the facility management, manufacturing, logistics, and transportation industries in the Asia Pacific region.

Optix has built their own AI technology JACC that helps solving complex problems in operations and maintenance areas. It is a big data platform, which helps in predicting and collecting information and turning the results into an actionable operations through its AI engine.

JACC estimates and forecasts the maintenance condition of the system by analyzing the historical records and technicians’ behavior. It can record machine status using IoT sensors and enables users to monitor the status in real-time. JACC uses advanced technologies such as data mining, machine learning, and predictive modeling to forecast future activities, behaviors, and trends. Moreover, JACC learns from technicians’ experience through daily operations, analyzes, and predicts equipment failures to suggest the optimal way to perform predictive maintenance.

Optix uses JACC for a bus company’s predictive maintenance and workflow optimization. The company manages 1500 buses in Hong Kong, and Optix’s team of technicians works for their maintenance every day. Unlike the traditional method of fixing the problem after detecting it, Optix’s AI approach detects the situation of the machine and fixes the problem before it breaks down. Since they only have three hours in a day to fix the machine for 1500 buses, time is a critical factor. In such a scenario, AI quickly detects which bus needs to be maintained or repaired, reducing the usage of human resources and time. JACC takes care of all the planning, decision making, and troubleshooting, and interacts with the technician. Optix also deployed their Web Crawling Solution for the bus company. It is a cloud-based platform that uses AI and machine learning to extract information from websites to analyze a particular situation and use the information to predict the bus routing and eventually forecast the condition of the bus. The company has also been offering chiller plant management solutions with JACC to the shopping malls, commercial buildings, and hospitals in Hong Kong for managing the energy consumption in facility management sector.

“Optix is now working on JACC 2.0 which will be rolling in next year,” says Spencer Fung, CEO and Founder, Optix Solutions. JACC 2.0 will incorporate applications that will offer facility management, not only for chiller plants, but also for other systems like the fire service, water supply, engineer management, and water force management. Recently, Optix has set up a branch office in Taiwan, which is focusing on developing the use of AI in the manufacturing industry. Optix is also working on advancing the use of AI technology in the logistics and transportation industries where they mainly focus on human resources allocation for operations, planning, and scheduling.
